Austermann's exquisite COUNTRY FLAIR lace yarn features long color gradients that look fantastic on this large shawl. The double slit for slipping the shawl through multiplies your styling options: stole, wrap, or XXL scarf – let yourself be enveloped in its softness. Not only the yarn itself, with its airy and cozy feel, but also the gentle color shades create a soothing and calming effect. It's simply knitted in stockinette stitch, and then you crochet around all the edges, including the slit edges, to give the shawl more structure and shape retention. This large shawl is perfect as a companion on a walk in the woods, a warming addition to a going-out outfit, or simply to snuggle up in on the couch. So many possibilities – the only question that remains is, how did you ever manage without this shawl?
The COUNTRY FLAIR yarn used by Austermann is a fine multicolor lace yarn made from pure natural fibers: 40% organic cotton, 35% fine baby alpaca, and 25% cotton combine to create a high-quality, versatile yarn. It is very soft, breathable, gentle on the skin, and cozy. It is also exceptionally lightweight, so you don't need much yarn. Intricate lace patterns look stunning with this yarn, but even simple knitting creates a beautiful stitch definition. The multicolor yarn features soft, long color transitions in evocative tones. For the shawl, we suggest petrol turquoise, but you could also choose pomegranate, autumn leaves, evening sky, or olive grove.
The easy-to-follow knitting instructions for the shawl with a double slit for fastening, measuring approximately 60 x 180 cm, were published in Rebecca No. 98, Model 34, Shawl Dimmer. You will also need 4 mm knitting needles and a size 4 crochet hook.
